Visa ban on UnionPay failed to come into effect - People's Daily Online
According to overseas media reports in late May, Visa International Service Association informed its member banks worldwide that, starting on Aug. 1, they must use the Visa clearing channel when accepting Chinese dual-currency credit cards with the Visa logo outside China or be severely punished.
However, after Aug. 1, Chinese banks still have not received any notification from Visa to carry out the 'ban.'
Some analysts said that the battle over the overseas clearing channels shows the problem of opening China's bank card market. The battle between Visa and China UnionPay may continue in a different manner and Chinese consumers will benefit from it.
